MAMMA MIA!!

It may not be to everyone´s taste but Abba´s songs are a great source of material for language classes! Moreover, from a musical point of view, they´re highly charged with catchy melodies and lively rhythms. Shame then that a film should be made which tries to cram in as many of their hits as possible in order to pack in the summer crowds. Anyway, I´ll be going to see the film as I´m an ABBA fan so maybe just ignore negative criticism and go to your local cinema, munch your popcorn and sing along with Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan......


Potser que li agradi a tothom però les cançons d'Abba són una gran font de material per les classes d'idiomes. Per tant, quina llàstima que han fet una pele que intenta incloure-hi els més èxits que possible per atreure els espectadors estiuencs. EduBlog Course /Taller d'Edublocs

Many thanks to my course tutors at Espiral for opening my eyes to the wonders of blogging. In particular the session last night where we had to initiate a LIVE BLOGGING SESSION with the live blogging program whose logo you can see above between the course members was of great use. We also had an introduction to MICROBLOGGING and we signed up for the programs TWITTER and PLURK.

I´ve added COVER IT LIVE to this blog at the bottom but for the moment I think TWITTER and PLURK are just going to clog up all the other things I´ve got on the page.

Moltes gràcies als tutors a l'Espiral per haver-me introduït a les meravelles del BLOGGING. Concretament, la sessió d'ahir a la nit en què vam haver d'iniciar una sessió de LIVE BLOGGING utilitzant el programa (podeu veure la imatge del seu nom a dalt) amb els companys dels curs, va resultar molt útil. Ens van introduir també al MICROBLOGGING i ens vam registrar per als programes de TWITTER i de PLURK.

He afegit COVER IT LIVE a aquest bloc AL FONS però de moment crec que TWITTER i PLURK només van a sobresaturar totes les altres coses que tinc en aquesta pàgina.

COM ELABORAR UNA CANÇÓ PART 2

You can do loads with a song. To start with, you could always ask some pre-questions or discuss the topic of the song with your class. You may want to explain a difficult word or two by giving a simple definition in English or a quick translation. You may then get them to listen to the song without a text and maybe have them put a number of key words in order.



Now onto the main activities. Probably the most common activity with a standard song is a gap-fill. Make sure you´re taking out structures and/or vocabulary which aren´t too difficult for them. Hence the choice of the right song in the first place!! A little trick I use especially with faster songs is to number the sections, especially with lower-levels and so even the weakest students can follow.


After you play the song either right through as many times as you tell them or in sections then they could well check in pairs or in small groups before going through the words as a whole class.



And now for the fun part - the singing!! It´s a great way of getting people to join in, even the weakest singers! Everyone should be encouraged to join in but don´t overinsist with the timid students.


Other song activities include reordering the different sections of a song or even putting certain words in order within a line. You could even get your students to draw a picture.


One last thing. It does help if you as a teacher like the song or otherwise your lack of enthusiasm will affect the students too!!




Es poden fer moltes coses amb una cançó. Per començar, sempre pots fer algunes preguntes per introduir-la o parlar del tema de la cançó amb el teu grup.

Ara parlarem de les activitats principals. La activitat més freqüent que probablament es faci amb una cançó és d'omplir els buits. Assegura't que treguis les estructures i/o el vocabulari que no són massa difícils per a ells. Per tant, en primer lloc cal haver seleccionat una cançó adequada!! Un truquet que utilitzo amb les cançons més ràpides és de ficar números a cada secció, especialment amb nivells de grup més baixos i aíxí inclòs els alumnes més dèbils puguin seguir-la.

Desprès fiques la cançó entera o en parts les més vegades que els diguis i desprès poden comprovar en parella o en petits grups abans de corregir la activitat com a classe.

I ara la part més divertida - cantar! Es una manera excel.lent de fer participar la gent, inclòs els que menys bé canten. Cal animar a tothom però insiteixis massa amb els alumnes més tímids.

Altres activitats amb una cançó inclouen posar les parts d'una cançó a l'ordre correcte o inclòs posar les paraules de diverses línees en ordre. Els alumnes també podrien fer un dibuix.

Una última cosa. Ajuda molt si a ti també t'agrada la cançó sinó la teva falta d'entusiasme afectarà els estudiants!

COM ELABORAR UNA CANÇÓ PRIMERA PART 1

The first thing one should ask oneself when choosing a song for the English classroom is whether your students would like it or not. If the answer is no, then it´s a waste of time and neither the teacher nor the kids will enjoy the experience.

When choosing the song you first have to decide whether it´s a slow one or a fast one. In the English class, slow songs with a good melody are generally more successful because the student can follow the words more easily and therefore less stresfully!!

Above all, a song has to be a fun activity and useful for learning the language....

Si vols treballar una cançó d'anglès dins de l'aula, el primer plantejament (i el més important de tot) és ELS HI AGRADARÀ AQUESTA CANÇÓ? Si la resposta és no, és una pèrdua de temps i ni els alumnes ni el professor disfrutarà de la experiència.


Per triar la cançó, llavors cal decidir si serà una cançó lenta o ràpida. En quant a l'aula d'anglès, les cançons lentes amb una bona melodia tenen més èxit perquè l'alumne pot anar seguir les paraules sense preocupar-se tant.

Sobre tot, una cançó ha de ser una activitat divertida i útil per a l'aprenentatge d'un idioma....

Ara que tenim temps per escoltar una mica més de música durant les nostres vacances, volia recomanar-vos les cançons de Mika. Vam fer algunes a l'escola i tots als tots els nens els hi agraden la seva alegria i musicalitat, ni a mencionar el fet que estan aprenent anglès al mateix temps! A més els videos són divertidíssims.
