TRIP TO CASTILLA Y LEON

To mark the last concert given by the wonderful conductor Lionel Bringuier with his great orchestra from Valladolid, we set off from Lleida on Friday 22nd June and stopped over at the modern parador in Soria.  As you can see from the photos the views are wonderful.  After wandering round Soria on Saturday morning we then arrived in Valladolid at midday and checked into the extremely modern Hotel Enara.  The evening concert was Beethoven's Choral Symphony and it was the last concert under their present Music Director.

We then had a nice late supper in Le Bistro close to the Plaza Mayor and on Sunday returned via Burgo de Osma (Soria) and Tarazona (Aragon) both on the N122.  We dropped my mum off at the airport on the Sunday evening.

Enjoy the photos...

I know it's been a while since I made my last post but these photos are really worthwhile.  I went to see the wonderful Castilla and Leon Symphony Orchestra with the Russian conductor, Vasily Petrenko.  Here is my photo album.

HELLO AGAIN ;)

Hello fellow bloggers and anyone else who may be reading :)  I've just joined the video site Vimeo and found this video from the great British singer Ed Sheeran.  He's a cat lover.  You'll see what I mean when you see this video.

Hola a tothom!

I´m back!!

Well, it´s been almost a year since I left this blog idle so I would like to take this chance to start it up again. There are so few readers of it but that doesn´t matter. Maybe it will strike a chord with somebody somewhere out there on the internet in the next few weeks. And then again, maybe not........

THAT'S AN INTERESTING HAIRCUT

Nigel Kennedy is not your conventional classical musician. In fact, his haircut strikes one as a mixture between a Hari Krishna sect member and a punk rocker. For a man who's been a famous classical violinist for over 25 years to come onto the Proms stage on the second night, hair cut and unconventionally dressed in mixture of folk and a biker boy's style of dress was of no surprise to the audience. That he then proceeded to greet both orchestra and audience in the way a rapper would greet his fans was hardly surprising either. However, the sound he produced when he started playing Elgar's Violin Concerto was just quite ravishing and I'd obviously completely forgotten how he played from the last time I'd heard him some 15 or so years ago.

It was a wonderful concert last night and I'm looking forward to the two concerts I'll be attending tomorrow. More from me soon.....
