THAT'S AN INTERESTING HAIRCUT
Nigel Kennedy is not your conventional classical musician. In fact, his haircut strikes one as a mixture between a Hari Krishna sect member and a punk rocker. For a man who's been a famous classical violinist for over 25 years to come onto the Proms stage on the second night, hair cut and unconventionally dressed in mixture of folk and a biker boy's style of dress was of no surprise to the audience. That he then proceeded to greet both orchestra and audience in the way a rapper would greet his fans was hardly surprising either. However, the sound he produced when he started playing Elgar's Violin Concerto was just quite ravishing and I'd obviously completely forgotten how he played from the last time I'd heard him some 15 or so years ago.
It was a wonderful concert last night and I'm looking forward to the two concerts I'll be attending tomorrow. More from me soon.....
